Poppy Distribution
We want to thank our Parent Council, as they will be making a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion on behalf of all of our students for the Poppy Fund this year.
Parents who may still want to make a donation to the Royal Canadian Legion are asked to do so directly to the local Legion.  We did begin last week with asking for donations to be brought in plastic bags, however we no longer be asking for this to occur because of the Parent Council initiative. We know that some schools are putting up a donation page on their Cask on Line, however we will not be doing this.
Our teachers will distribute the poppies to our students in class.

Remembrance Day Ceremony
Our ceremonies will be taking place in each individual class.  The ceremony has been been prepared by both staff and students, and will take place on November 11.

Progress Reports  / Interviews
We have been given a recent update form Information Technology that the  Progress Reports will be going live on November 10 at 5:00 PM.  It is our understanding that parents who log into portal can visually see these reports.  There are some glitches that they are coming to terms with, and the plan will be for teachers to be able to sign off reports for transfer to Compass Portal on Monday November  9, and Administration to sign off on Tuesday Novemember10, and then subsequently the reports will go live at 5:00 PM.

This is a friendly reminder to parents to sign up for an interview time slot.  Please note that Grade 1-6 interview sign up will be extended to Tuesday Nov 10th.  The deadline for Kindergarten Interviews sign up is Monday Nov 16th. Please see the link under our announcement page.
THE TEACHER'S WILL BE CALLING ON THURSDAY NIGHT FROM A LANDLINE THAT WILL DISPLAY "NO CALLER ID" OR THEIR COMPUTERS WILL DISPLAY A LONG DISTANCE NUMBER.  If the teacher has arranged a google meet, they will send you a link (invitation). Kindergarten interviews will be on the 19th and they will be reaching out  by phone or google meet.

Interviews will take place on November 12.  If you have not been able to book an interview, we ask you to reach out directly to your child's teacher to do so.  There is some time on Friday November 13 for this to take place.

We ask Parents to remind our students of the importance of hygiene (washing hands), social distance and mask wearing each day.  We make this a priority each and everyday at school to say these gentle reminders, as the importance of these practices can never be taken for granted.

Parent Portal
Please use the following link www.ocsb.ca/parentportal to register for Parent Portal if you have not done so already.  This will give you access to your child's report cards.

Bus Lanes
Just a reminder that Bus lanes are off limits to parking, drop off and pick up during the hours of 8:00-8:45 AM and 2:30-3:15 PM.

Screen Tool
Please continue to use the screening tool for students each and everyday.  It is located on our website.

Bus Driver Concerns
Concerns have been raised by our Bus drivers when approaching our school entrance.  When they pass by the OC transportation Bus stop, cars that are parked in this area make it very difficult for them.  We ask that this area be clear to alleviate these difficulties.  We ask that parents park a block away and walk over to the school.  Thank you.
